While stationed on the USS Concord I was fortunate to fly frequently on our HC-46 helicopters to photograph specific scenes and events as well as to travel on official business.
In 1983, the Beirut, Lebanon “war” had dragged on long enough to warranting then-President Ronald Reagan to call the battleship USS New Jersey from mothballs.
As a supply ship, the Concord conducted both alongside, ship-to-ship and helicopter, vertical replenishments.
